Fae's Bargain: Fated Fae Book 4 Author Luna Daye
Book Review
5 out of 5 stars!
First and foremost, this book is number four in the series! It could be read out of order, but there are some spoilers for the previous couples and characters. This entire series thus far are novella lengths so it wouldn't be hard to catch up!

"The number of us returning to the human realm is dwindling by the day." - Alex
Alex sees things differently than some of the other humans do. . . This "beautiful" thing of fate and how the humans are matching with the Fae isn't for Alex. She's treating it like a sickness and wants nothing to do with it! She doesn't need a mate! She needs to return to the human realm!
But when Alex discovers that she has in fact been inflicted with the magical "disease" she will make her mate earn it. Autumn Lady not wanting a mate either, only full access to her magic. Alex already doesn't like the ice queen who's very entitled. So, she decides to do something that she was warned not to do. She makes a bargain with a Fae, only it's a human striking the bargain. What could possibly go wrong? And can one really fight fate?
"I'm not some magical booty call. She has to earn it." - Alex
I love this series a lot and just the diversity of the group of humans! How some are more than happy to be in a new world and others not so much. Each having different reasons as to why they wish to stay or return home to the human realm. Alex's story was very much one I was looking forward to! But honestly, I'm just a sucker for enemies to lovers trope!
Alex has reasons to get back to the human realm and her plan is to focus on that. And staying away from her supposed "fated mate". Which was quite easy until the Autumn Lady returned to the Autumn Court! Now the cat's out of the bag and Alex has to face things, only she isn't going down without a fight. A bargain for her "mate" to prove that she isn't a selfish being. Alex can resist the Autumn Lady until the clock ticks down, who cares if the color red best suites the Lady and helps show off those curves. . .
The dedication of this book got me! Both of our FMCs are stubborn, headstrong women! I loved the banter between them and how neither wanted to back down or bow first. I could relate a lot to the Autumn Lady and how she needed to keep her walls up. Sometimes you focus so hard on something that you don't see the damage it is causing to those around you or yourself.
Even though this is a cozy read there were some scenes that had me crying! Bullying and purposefully being mean is present in the book, but not hardcore. Again, the two leads are not on good terms, and both have valid reasons as to why they need certain things. The effects of the bond only worsening things and making it harder to stay out of each other's orbit!
This book does contain language. Enemies to lovers with some actual enemies' moments and consequences. Realizing when you were wrong or went too far. Spoiler but mention of both FMC's mother's having passed away and the hurt and grief from that. (Sorry, I have a friend who lost her mom, and I know that the above may be a big trigger for her.) There is also mention of a current family member with dementia. Again, this read is meant to be more on the cozy side of things, but there are some heavy moments.
"I hate you" is the love language between the two leads! There is attraction but both blame it on the mate bond magic so slow burn. Dual POVs showcasing just how hard they are fighting things. Tension galore and there's one scene that had me dying! Let me just say the Autumn Lady snapped, stormed in, ate, left no crumbs, and then marched out like a true Lady of the Court! We have spicy FF action and Alex has some piercings that the Autumn Lady loves. The big coming together scene, all puns intended, had me holding my breath. I was so into it and whew, it was very nice! Just the banter between the two and how it continues even after they become lovers!
We do get an HEA for the main couple of the book and a beautiful wedding celebration closure for a different couple! I was so excited to see it and just everything that went into that arc! We have so much rep in this series so far! A couple being BIPOC because of the different cast of humans, Autumn Lady is Black along with some other Fae, LGBTQIA, and one of our humans is deaf and others know how to ASL with her. I am excited to read about the next couple of the series! Love this author!
Do enjoy the read with stubborn women, pumpkin-orange dresses, cake fights, and so much more! Don't forget to give the author some stars!
