"Once I become an official candidate---I want hazard pay.  . . . And I want that in writing." - Chloe

Chloe's a novice cleric by day, but at night while dawning a veil, she's The Sister of Great Fortune. Walking away with several coins and men in tears over their loses with cards. Sounds like a very, peaceful and exciting life. Win-win, literally! Only in this world women who seem to have "unnatural" abilities or are just really good observers are thought to be gifted with a Charism.

Chloe has no Charism, but she still lands in the sights of a Erald Bitz who wishes to utilize her powers to solve a murder mystery. She tries to correct him at every turn and even shows her trade secrets, but he isn't convinced. Luckily, he knows how to speak her language and upon the down payment she's in! Though Chloe may not fully understand what she got herself into until there's no turning back. . . Yeah, he better be dishing out some more coin!

"I have to do it! For the gold!" - Chloe

I kept seeing this title on NetGalley and decided to give it a go. The part where it had vibes similar to "The Apothecary Diaries" had me! I am also not the greatest with names and remembering who did what, so after some quick Google searching, I found that Natsu Hyuuga is the creator behind the story of "The Apothecary Diaries"! I did notice that the writing and characters felt very familiar and now it all makes sense!

I loved Chloe's down-to-earth character and want to see more of how she contends with all this. She's a pro gambler and knows how to read people, the cards, probabilities, etc. We get tidbits on how to tell if someone is lying by subtle changes to their body. Respected the fact that she earned her nickname and her winnings, but Erald believes she couldn't have without a Charism. Little insulting but after you read further in you understand why he thought that and some little unknown secrets about those "with" Charism revealed.

This first installment is a little slow and didn't really have me madly flipping pages until the inevitable cliffhanger. Being introduced to the characters, setting the stage for the whodunit, and the inner systems of this world kind of took up most of the pages. Understandable because of the complexity but things are all still new and surface level at the moment. We do get hints of hard back stories, neglect, and darkness. I didn't pick up any language with this read. Some blood and violence but nothing gory or detailed out! Some nudity but only a little side boob.

I loved the comedy and how the different characters are mixing. Ines and Chloe together were a great duo, and I chuckled at the times they were mentally synced, Erald being left out. Erald's character is a little harder to pin down at the moment, but he completes the trio! I am interested in seeing how this will all go down and how Chloe will solve the mystery alongside Ines and Erald. And to see if some of my theories that are building are correct! Also, the sacred beast of this world had me dying!

Enjoy the start to a new series! Don't forget to give this team some stars!

Thank you, Kodansha Comics and NetGalley!
